Demonstration of health workers continues at Bheri Hospital
Some other doctors and health workers also were attacked by the COVID’s patient’s attendants on different dates in Bheri hospital.
Representatives of various health organizations in the district are also joining the protest. The protesters chant slogans, ‘No-security, no-work’, ‘Punish the assailants’ etc. Doctors and nurses were physically assaulted and abused by the patient’s relatives at Bheri Hospital on May 27 at 8 pm after a COVID patient died during the treatment. According to the nurse, the attendant had already threatened her of physical harm if the patient dies.
On May 28, 2021, victimized doctors and nurses have registered a First Information Report against the perpetrators by alleging them of attempt to murder. They have demanded for ‘jail without bail.’
AF is continuously monitoring and following up the case and providing legal advices to the victims of harm. Further, AF urges the concerned authorities to make the report public, take stringent legal action against the culprit, provide protection and justice to the victims. Government should address such demands to boost the confidence of the health workers and prepare the fearless environment to fight against the COVID-19 at the forefront.
