AF Organized Events on "15 Years of CPA; Justice not in Sight yet"
The participants in the program shared their frustrations and despair on how the Government has been delaying TJ process and has failed to address even a single case of human rights violation committed during the ten year long armed conflict. Bhim Bahadur Raut, conflict victim from Morang stated that the TJ Commissions are there just for the sake of it and the victims are losing their hope for justice. He further requested AF to bridge the gap between conflict victims and Local Government. Participants in the program organized in Nepalgunj, Banke, collectively said that the Government should ensure justice and provide reparation to the victims as per their concerns and demands and declare their loved ones who lost their lives in conflict as martyrs. Likewise, they also demanded the government to publicize the whereabouts of their loved ones who were subjected to enforced disappearance during the conflict.
The government representatives present in the interaction also pledged their commitments to enhance the TJ process. In Banke, Dutta Prasad Acharya, Committee Chairperson of Communist Party of Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist ( CPN-UML) , stated that it is a common responsibility of all political parties to ensure justice to conflict victims and as a member of opposing party, he will nudge the Government in this regard. Similarly, in Morang, Narayan Prasad Dahal, Chairperson on High Court Bar Association, Biratnagar, pledged to provide free legal aid to the victims in the legal proceeding of their cases.
The interaction programs thus conducted generated rigorous discussions as to why the TJ process is being delayed and what concrete steps can be taken to further TJ process so that the victims who have been waiting for years can finally get justice.
