AF Organizes Interaction with Conflict Victims on Truth Day
Conflict victims, municipality officials, human rights activists and representatives of the political parties participated in the interaction organized on the occasion of the International Day for the Right to the Truth concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims (24 March).
Speaking at the event, AF's Lumbini Province Senior Coordinator Basanta Gautam provided the latest updates in transitional justice process, victims' rights and local government's role in providing reparation to victims.
Rural Municipality officials informed the participants that the local government has allocated 300,000 rupees to the conflict victims and 150,000 rupees for the medical treatment of conflict victims.
During the event, conflict victims agreed to submit a concrete proposal to the municipalities. Representatives of the municipalities agreed to form Women, Peace and Security Committee and to provide concession on education, health and agriculture for conflict victims.
