Rape and Torture Victims Demand Justice
27 February 2012. In two recent programs organized by Advocacy Forum (AF) in Surkhet and Kanchanpur districts, women victims of sexual violence and torture demanded that the stakeholders of justice system pay attention to their demands for full justice. Maina Sunuwar’s Death Anniversary Observed

Council Action Required to Prevent Blanket Impunity for Conflict-Era Violations

This seminar will address impunity, the problem of perpetrators of serious crimes being protected from prosecution or other forms of punishment and accountability. It will examine both the theory and historical context of impunity, and its particular manifestations in Asia. It will cover questions such as why states fail to investigate certain crimes; the effect of impunity on victims; and the way that truth and reconciliation commissions affect impunity.

22 December 2011. Mandira Sharma, Founder of Advocacy Forum has received Australian Leadership Award. She is currently in Australia. She will be working mainly to strengthen networks with Australian academics and NGOs working in the field of human rights. As one of the major works of the Advocacy Forum is to combat impunity in the crimes of human rights violations, she will also be conducting research on the system of universal jurisdiction and the Australian legal system to which this relates.
