AF Conducts a 3 Day Psychosocial Counselling Session in Barpark, Gorkha.
6-8 June 2015: Advocacy Forum organized and conducted a 3 day psychosocial counselling session and provided relief materials to earthquake victims of Barpark, Gorkha, the epicenter of devastating 7.8 richter scale earthquake that struck on 25th April. Many lost their lives and loved ones and many were injured in the quake. Almost all of the houses in Barpark and surrounding areas were destroyed. Victims are still living in tarpaulins and temporary shelters. The psychosocial counselling session was organized in coordination with the Psychosocial Counselling Forum, Women Human Rights Protection Network, Radio Safalta 103.4 of Kaski district and Earthquake Victim Reconstruction and Relief Committee and Barpak Women’s group of Barpak Gorkha. Counseling was divided into various sessions for children according to their age group and separate sessions were organized for women, teachers and local community leaders. There was a huge turnout of the victims from ward 4 to 9 of Barpak for the sessions which were well received. The participants expressed that this was the first time ever that they had received such counselling sessions.
