Advocacy Forum Organized an Interactive Session on Gender-Based Violence
The interaction session was conducted as a part of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. The United Nations Women picked "UNiTE! Activism to end violence against women and girls" as the campaign's theme for this year. The theme's guiding principles include honoring and recognizing women's movements, leaving no one behind, using a survivor-centered approach that is multi-sectoral and transformative, and using the color orange as a unifying element in all campaign messaging.
The interaction session at AF focused on resensitizing human rights lawyers on effectively addressing violence and discrimination against women and girls at domestic, community, and organizational levels. Furthermore, the interaction session assessed the current status of gender-based violence and access to justice issues. The participants unanimously committed to strengthening efforts by prioritizing the GESI component in its plan, policies and activities and creating a gender-friendly and non-discriminatory workplace environment.
The session was facilitated by Bishnu Kala Bhandari Adhikari(a human rights activist and a board member of AF).
The program is supported by Kurve Wustrow, Germany.
